Cannabis Commission Backs Giving Minority Groups Exclusive Access to Delivery Licenses in Massachusetts

Massachusetts cannabis regulators gave initial support to providing minority groups with at least two years of exclusivity on marijuana delivery licenses.

At a hearing on Friday, the Cannabis Control Commission voted 4-1 to adopt proposed regulations overseeing the new license type.

As part of the policy, the commission said it will restrict delivery licenses to economic empowerment applicants who have been certified by the state as hailing from an area harmed by drug prosecutions, or people who are going through the state’s social equity program, which seeks to provide training to small marijuana businesses with a focus on minorities, women and veterans.
