Grand jurors are needed now. Volunteer for the Nevada County Grand Jury and be part of the “watchdog agency” that makes sure your county government runs smoothly and tax dollars are spent wisely. Volunteers are needed to serve starting July 2022 through June 2023. The time commitment is 10-15 hours a week. Most weekly meetings are held via Zoom, so no commuting to the Eric Rood Administrative Center is necessary at this time. Jurors earn a small stipend for every meeting attended and can be reimbursed for mileage should in-person meetings occur. The jury is especially keen to find jurors to represent Truckee/East County. Desirable grand jurors should be in reasonably good health; open-minded to the views of others; have an interest in community affairs; general knowledge of the function, authority, and responsibility of city and county government; possess investigative and computer skills; and have the ability to write and edit reports.
Prospective grand juror qualifications include being a citizen of the United States and 18 years or older; being a resident of the county for one year immediately before being selected; being in possession of his or her natural faculties of ordinary intelligence, of sound judgment, and of fair character; and possessing sufficient knowledge of the English language.

NORTH STAR HISTORIC CONSERVANCY
The North Star House is a 10,000-square-foot home designed in 1905 by the renowned architect Julia Morgan. Built in the arts and crafts style, the North Star House is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the California State Historic Buildings Register. The North Star House marketing team creates marketing campaigns and promotional materials, maintains our website and social media sites, promotes events, and monitors local and regional outreach opportunities to be sure that we are properly represented in those sources. New volunteers are needed to join our team. If you have some of these skills and would like to join our marketing team, we’d like to meet you. Top priorities include framing a marketing campaign; writing articles, press releases, promotional pieces; updating/maintaining WordPress website; keeping us current on social media; designing flyers, ads (ownership and use of Adobe Creative Suite software desirable); graphic design; and knowledge of both Word and Excel. Would love to have a volunteer with graphic design experience, someone experienced working with databases, and someone who can bring their own ideas and experience to the team.
