    West Coast Cannabis Tours (WCCT), a San Diego-based cutting edge authority of cannabis tourism, bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to open minded individuals and community members in the greater Southern California region, this week announced their exciting and education-based tours are now officially accessible to individuals.

As a three-venue tour with a licensed dispensary, glass blowing demonstration, and a cooking and edibles demo, the Intro to Cannabis tour is designed to share the positive benefits of cannabis while providing information on how products are made and used today.

    Fires Threaten California’s First Legal Pot Crop

    As if there isn’t enough uncertainty right now for Northern California weed farmers, this week’s fires are threatening the 2017 harvest. That is for those farmers who are lucky enough to have a harvest.

    Fires are raging in 14 counties, according to the California Department of Forestry, and an estimated 1,500 residential and commercial structures have been destroyed. Since late Sunday night, 57,000 acres have burned and tens of thousands people have been evacuated. And that’s just the past few days. The National Interagency Fire Center claims a total of 3,692 Northern California fires have burned 411,742 acres in 2017, according to the East Bay Express.

    While the scope of these life altering tragedies is still being calculated, cannabis farmers have begun to assess the toll on this year’s outdoor harvest and the outlook is grim.

    Legal Pot Brings Bonanza of Gov’t Jobs in California

    Scientists. Tax collectors. Typists. Analysts. Lawyers. And more scientists.

    Recreational marijuana use becomes legal in California in 2018, and one of the things to blossom in the emerging industry isn’t green and leafy, it’s government jobs, according to the L.A. Times.

    The state is on a hiring binge to fill what eventually will be hundreds of new government positions by 2019 intended to bring order to the legal pot economy, from keeping watch on what’s seeping into streams near cannabis grows to running background checks on storefront sellers who want government licenses. Thousands of additional jobs are expected to be added by local governments.

    The swiftly expanding bureaucracy represents just one aspect of the complex challenge faced by California: Come January, the state will unite its longstanding medical cannabis industry with the newly legalized recreational one, creating what will be the United States’ largest legal pot economy.

  • California Backs Away From Ban on Cannabis Ads

    California lawmakers have dropped a plan to impose significant restrictions on cannabis advertising, agreeing to kill a bill that would have banned cannabis-industry ads on clothing and other merchandise, according to Leafly.

    The proposal, by state Sen. Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica), would have prohibited state-licensed cannabis businesses from advertising “through the use of branded merchandise, including, but not limited to, clothing, hats, or other merchandise with the name or logo of the product.” Nonprofits and other noncommercial speech would have been exempt.

    Allen and other supporters of SB 162 said the measure was aimed at protecting children from potentially harmful marketing practices. But critics complained that the bill went too far and could ultimately do more harm than good.
